This thangka was hand-painted in Nepal. It shows the Ashmatangala, also known as the eight auspicious signs. The signs include the two fish symbol, the eternity knot, the parasol, and the victory banner. This thangka is 26 inches long and 20 inches wide including the brocade, and 8 inches long and 8 inches wide (the painting alone). This thangka shows a beautiful Mandala, painted on a black background, and the eight auspicious signs. The Tibetan form of the om symbol is in the center of this thangka. We have more information on the Eight Auspicious Symbols in our Buddhist symbols section and click here for an article on the Mandala.
