This mask was handmade in Nepal. It is in the shape of Ganesh, Ganesha, who has the head of an elephant. It is said that Shiva and Parvatti were in an argument and Ganesh got in the middle and Shiva swiped off Ganesh's head and replaced it with an elephant head. Ganesh is a popular deity in Hinduism, and Buddhism as well. This mask is 13 inches long, 7 inches wide, and 4 inches thick. The mask is made from wood. There is turquoise, coral, and lapis lazuli inlay along the outside of the mask.
