This Buddhist flag is made from satin material. This flag is 30 x 39 inches and was handmade in Nepal. The Buddhist flag is like the 'national' flag of Buddhists, and was created in the 19th century. The six bands in the flag are the colors believed to have emanated from Buddha when he attained enlightenment. There are five colors in the flag, blue, yellow, red, white, and orange. Blue represents loving kindness, peace, and compassion. Yellow stands for the middle path, avoiding extremes, and emptiness. Red stands for the blessings of practice, acheivement, fortune, and dignity. White stands for the purity of dharma. Orange stands for the Buddha's teachings and wisdom. The sixth band includes all five of the colors, and is called the 'essence of light'.
